A special summer reunion with Lennoxville and Vermont Quilters

Now with everything that’s happening in the world, I finally have time to work on my projects which include a few blogs! Especially one about a special summer reunion. I had so many things to talk about last summer but I never got the time to post. So I am playing catch up. Hoping you’ll enjoy them.

Last summer was an exceptional one for me! You know what usually happens every summer: your weekends get booked even before summer has started and you end up in fall without having done anything meaningful in this short twelve weeks of hot weather and late sunsets.

Well last year I decided to work it out differently. I promised myself I would find time to roam the roads and find fellow quilting friends and see what they’ve been up to during the long winter. My goal was to explore strange new locations, be part of special summer reunions, to seek out new quilters and go where no quilter had gone before!

Sew Organized for 2020

Happy new year everyone! Wishing you only the very best as always as we begin the new year with once more the resolution to be Sew Organized! Right?

This year is extremely special for me! For some reason I’ve always known that 2020 would be an exceptional year… even if it’s just because of the numbers. Turns out I was right not just for the numerology part of it.

My life turned upside down in 2019 and I was forced to face a lot of challenges.

Hate the color of that fabric? Use it!

If you’re still having trouble finishing a quilt, I want to show you how creating with a colour you hate can actualy help you finish a project.

I have been giving you tips and tricks since August to increase your creativity. And this one I am sure you’ll love to hate.

It’s quite simple! If you really hate the colour in your fabric, you won’t focus so much on how nice it HAS to look. You’ll just want to get it done and move on to another project.

It’s exactly what happened when I made this project.

Behind the seams of Some like it hot

I thought I should give you a behind the seams look at my latest piece: ”Some like it hot”. It’s presently featured at the Fall International Quilt Festival in Houston in the IQA exhibit A world of Beauty.

How it all started

I started this project during March break. I had sent out my Remembering Sochi quilt for the Spring International Quilt Festival in Chicago and realized I had no quilt to show during my April lectures! On the very first Saturday of March break, my son was sleeping over at a friends’ house… So I woke up at 5 am as I realized I had the basement all to myself! How a challenge can up your quilting skills

Another great way to be more creative in your studio is to participate in a challenge! Being a regional rep for the Canadian Quiter’s Association , I agreed to participate in the annual Trend-Tex Challenge this year. That’s when I realized that a challenge can up your quilting skills!

Now this is very interesting . The Trend-Tex Challenge is an annual event at Quilt Canada. Participants purchase a kit of 5 fat quarters of Trend-Tex fabrics and make a wall size quilt. All finished quilts are displayed at Quilt Canada and are sold by silent auction to raise funds for CQA/ACC programs and projects. Continue reading “How a challenge can up your quilting skills”

Changing two things to increase my creativity!

Here’s how changing two things increased my creativity. I am continuously surprised at my productivity this year. Not only have I started many projects, but I have also finished a bunch. After having made almost nothing in the past two years, I am really happy of my results. What has changed?

There are two things that helped me increase my creativity: my sewing machine and my mindset!
