This is such an exciting moment!
This morning, I perused through the Carrefour Européen du Patchwork’s website and they finally have posted the list of teachers and classes that will take place during their big event next September. And guess what? I will be one of the teachers.
Now if you have never been to France, than this is the time! The event will take place from September 14th to the 18th in Alsace (about 4 ½ hours by car heading east from Paris) and it will be worth the trip. They showcase several quilt exhibits in historical buildings in four towns: Ste-Marie-aux-Mines, Ste-Croix-aux-Mines, Lièpvre and Rombach-le-Franc. Free shuttles take you from one town to another to help you see all the exhibits.
The event takes place during 5 days so you have plenty of time to peruse through the exhibits as you visit Colmar, Strasbourg and Mulhouse while tasting the wonderful wines from the area. (I will definitely go back to Riquewihr.)
And while you’re there, why not take one of my classes? I will be teaching my Meli Melo on September 14. It’s a six-hour class and we will have plenty of time to go through this pattern. You will surely like the fact that it only takes 11 fat quarters to make this quilt, so it won’t take up too much space in your luggage. I love this pattern as it teaches beginners the basics in cutting, sewing and where to press the seams. But it also is a good quilt for the more confident beginner as they get to understand how to play with fabrics to ensure the fabric flow enhances the design. So have 6 large floral print fat quarters and 5 tone on tone fat quarters and let the fun begin.
I will also be teaching the reversible technique on September 17th. This is another six-hour class that will show you how to piece and quilt a block all at the same time, and having a pieced design on both sides. You will also learn how to assemble the blocks together so that you have a finished quilt without the stress of quilting a big piece! The quilting is already done! The icing on the cake is when I will show you how to add a reversible binding.
If you would like to come but don’t want to make the trip on your own! I have a Quilting Tour organized: 6 days in Alsace and 5 days in Paris. Contact me to get all the details! Cause what’s better than going to France to see quilts? Going to France to see quilts with a group of quilters of course!
